The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a significant increase in prize money for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), doubling the winner's share to $2.2 million. This was confirmed by CAF President Patrice Motsepe during a press conference on July 25, 2026, in Rabat, Morocco.
The total prize pool for the tournament has been raised to $7.6 million, up from $3.8 million in the previous edition. The runner-up will receive $1.5 million, while semi-finalists will get $800,000 each. All 12 participating teams are guaranteed at least $400,000.
Motsepe stated that the increase aims to promote women's football in Africa and ensure players are fairly compensated. The 2026 WAFCON is scheduled to take place in Morocco from July 5 to 26, 2026, marking the second consecutive edition hosted by the country.
