Michael Carrick, the former Manchester United midfielder and current coach, praised Fernandes, saying, 'He fully deserves it. His consistency and leadership have been key for the team this season.' Fernandes scored 15 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions during the 2025-26 season, according to club statistics.
Fernandes, 31, joined Manchester United in January 2020 from Sporting CP and has since become a pivotal figure, captaining the side. The award marks his second such honor, having previously won the club's Player of the Year award for the 2020-21 season.
