Plans to reroute a section of the popular Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk in County Wicklow, Ireland, have taken a step forward following environmental surveys that identified 46 bird species along the proposed route.
The surveys, conducted as part of the planning process, recorded a variety of birdlife, including species of conservation concern. The findings will inform the design to minimize disturbance to nesting and feeding habitats.
The reroute is part of a broader project to improve safety and accessibility on the cliff path, which has suffered from erosion and rockfalls. The new alignment would move the path inland in certain sections, avoiding the most unstable cliff edges.
Wicklow County Council is leading the project. The next stage involves detailed design and an application for planning permission. A timeline for construction has not yet been confirmed.
