In a March 2026 update, Boone County Commissioner Justin Oeth provided details on several county initiatives. A key development is the planned construction of a new Public Safety Facility to house the Boone County Sheriff's Office and 911 Communications Center, with design work underway and construction expected to begin in 2027.
Commissioner Oeth also highlighted ongoing road infrastructure projects. These include the completion of the first phase of the Oakland Park Road extension and the continuation of improvements to Route Z, aimed at enhancing traffic flow and safety.
Additionally, the commissioner encouraged resident participation in two active surveys. One seeks input on the future use of the former Boone County Fairgrounds property, while the other is a community health needs assessment conducted in partnership with local hospitals.
