BlaBlaCar, the French carpooling platform, has announced its expansion into Morocco, marking a key step in its renewed global growth strategy. The company, which had paused major international expansions for about a decade, is now targeting North Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Europe.
The launch in Morocco, confirmed by the company in early 2026, aims to connect major cities like Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakech. BlaBlaCar's service allows drivers to offer seats in their cars for shared long-distance trips, reducing costs and environmental impact.
This move follows BlaBlaCar's earlier expansions in Europe and Latin America. The company has not disclosed specific investment figures for the Moroccan market but stated it is part of a broader push to grow its user base in emerging regions.
BlaBlaCar's return to aggressive expansion comes after a period of consolidation, during which it focused on profitability and strengthening its core European market. The Moroccan launch is seen as a test for further African expansion.
