Pastor Adeboye had reportedly warned men against marrying women with higher incomes, citing potential challenges in the marriage. However, the bishops argued that the Bible does not support such a view, pointing to examples like Proverbs 31 where a virtuous woman contributes significantly to her household. They emphasized that marriage is a partnership of equals before God.
The Ecumenical Synods urged Christian leaders to be cautious in giving advice that could discourage men from marrying capable women. They called for teachings that promote mutual respect and support in marriages, regardless of financial status.
