PUTRAJAYA: Outgoing Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Tan Sri Azam Baki turned emotional during his farewell speech on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, after four decades in public service. He teared up when speaking about the sacrifices made by his family throughout his career.
Azam, 62, who served as MACC chief commissioner since March 2020, expressed gratitude to his colleagues and staff for their support. His tenure saw several high-profile corruption cases, including the 1MDB scandal investigations.
He will be succeeded by Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim, effective May 14, 2026. Azam's retirement marks the end of a 40-year career that began in the civil service.
