Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi have obtained the expression of interest and nomination forms of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 presidential election, according to a report by Saturday PUNCH.
The development signals their intention to contest under the ADC platform, though neither has made a formal declaration. The forms were reportedly picked up on behalf of the politicians by associates.
Atiku, 79, was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, while Amaechi, 60, served as Minister of Transportation under former President Muhammadu Buhari and was a contender for the 2023 APC presidential ticket.
The ADC is a smaller political party in Nigeria, and the move could indicate a shift in alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections. Further details on their campaigns are expected in the coming months.
