According to a report from The Verge on July 18, 2026, Live Notes uses on-device AI to generate real-time transcripts and summaries, which are then stored for a limited period. Apple has stated that the data is encrypted and not shared with third parties, but employees worry about potential misuse by management.
Apple has not officially commented on the concerns, but a source familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that the company is reviewing privacy safeguards. The tool is currently in a limited beta test at select Apple Store locations in the United States.
