Alpine F1 Team has announced the appointment of Jason Somerville as their new Deputy Technical Director, effective immediately. The move is aimed at bolstering the team's technical leadership group as they prepare for the 2026 Formula 1 season.
Somerville, who previously served as Head of Aerodynamics at the Enstone-based team, brings extensive experience to the role. He has been a key member of Alpine's technical department since joining the team in 2022, contributing to the development of their current car.
Team Principal Oliver Oakes commented: 'Jason has been an integral part of our technical team, and his promotion reflects his hard work and dedication. We are confident that his expertise will help drive our performance forward.'
The appointment comes as Alpine continues to restructure its technical operations following a challenging 2025 season. The team finished sixth in the Constructors' Championship last year and is aiming to improve its competitiveness.
