At the Salon International de l'Agriculture au Maroc (SIAM) 2026, held from April 22 to 28 in Meknes, the Al Moutmir initiative showcased its impact on Moroccan agriculture. Launched eight years ago, Al Moutmir reports an average yield increase of 40% among supported farmers, according to the initiative's materials.
The initiative, backed by OCP Group, focuses on sustainable farming practices, including soil analysis, precision fertilization, and training. At SIAM 2026, Al Moutmir highlighted its efforts to enhance resilience against climate change, such as drought-tolerant crops and water-efficient techniques.
Al Moutmir has expanded to over 200,000 farmers across Morocco, with 1,000 demonstration plots and 200 mobile labs for soil testing. The program aims to improve food security and reduce import dependency by boosting local production of cereals, legumes, and olives.
SIAM 2026, under the theme 'Agriculture and Climate: Towards Resilient and Sustainable Food Systems,' provides a platform for Al Moutmir to share best practices. The initiative's data shows that participating farmers have seen not only higher yields but also reduced input costs through optimized fertilizer use.
Al Moutmir's presence at SIAM 2026 underscores Morocco's commitment to agricultural innovation. The initiative continues to evolve, with plans to integrate digital tools for real-time crop monitoring and advisory services, aiming to reach 1 million farmers by 2030.
