Amal El Seghrouchni, a prominent figure in artificial intelligence and digital governance, addressed the role of AI in sustainable development and public services as the keynote speaker at the fourth edition of the Africa Impact Lectures. The event, held in a format linked to the United Nations, was attended by Omar Hilale, Morocco's Permanent Representative to the UN.

El Seghrouchni, who serves as the President of the UN's High-Level Committee on Digital Cooperation and is a former Chair of the OECD's AI expert group, argued that AI is a major lever for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She highlighted its applications in optimizing resource management, improving access to education and healthcare, and enhancing the efficiency of public administrations.

The Africa Impact Lectures series, which began in 2023, aims to foster dialogue on Africa's development challenges and opportunities. This edition focused on technological innovation as a driver for inclusive growth. Discussions centered on building ethical frameworks and local capacity to ensure AI development benefits all segments of society and does not exacerbate existing inequalities.
