The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that the Rainbow Event Centre in Abuja cancelled its booking for the party's National Convention at the last minute. The convention was scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, 2026. The party's National Publicity Secretary, Mabel Oboh, stated the cancellation was due to alleged pressure from the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
In a statement, Oboh claimed the venue management cited "orders from above" as the reason for the abrupt cancellation, which occurred just days before the event. The ADC has condemned the action as an attempt to stifle opposition and democratic processes ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party stated it is seeking an alternative venue and legal redress. As of April 14, 2026, there has been no public response from the FCDA or Minister Wike's office regarding the specific allegations made by the ADC.
