On July 26, 2026, Acting President Hafiz Uddin paid homage at the graves of former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in Dhaka. The visit was part of a ceremony marking the anniversary of Ziaur Rahman's death.
Ziaur Rahman, a former military ruler and president of Bangladesh, was assassinated in 1981. Khaleda Zia, his widow and former prime minister, died in 2023. Both are buried at the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area in the capital.
Hafiz Uddin, who assumed the acting presidency in 2025, laid wreaths and offered prayers at the graves. The event was attended by senior government officials and members of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
