KUALA LUMPUR (May 7) — Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) president and group chief executive Datuk Abdul Rahman Ahmad has been appointed as the non-independent non-executive chairman of Sime Darby Bhd (KL:SIME), effective immediately, according to a Bursa Malaysia filing.

Abdul Rahman previously served as group chief executive of Sime Darby from 2017 to 2020. His return to the board comes as the conglomerate continues to focus on its core businesses in industrial and motors, following the demerger of its plantation and property divisions in 2017.

The appointment was announced on May 7, 2026, and is subject to shareholders' approval at the next annual general meeting. Abdul Rahman will also serve as a member of the nomination and remuneration committee.
