PESHAWAR: Ten members of a family were killed and 13 others injured after a passenger van plunged into a ravine and caught fire while traveling to a popular hill resort in northern Pakistan on Wednesday, motorway police said.
The accident occurred on the Indus Highway near the town of Besham in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to police. The van was en route to the hill station of Naran when it lost control and fell into a deep ravine, bursting into flames.
Rescue teams arrived at the scene and transported the injured to a nearby hospital. The deceased include women and children, officials confirmed. Road accidents are common in Pakistan due to poor road conditions and reckless driving.
