Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Suphajee Suthin, has urged the public not to panic over the cost of living, stating that domestic fuel supplies remain sufficient. The government is closely monitoring the prices of 59 essential goods and services to prevent unfair price hikes.
Suphajee made the remarks amid public concern over rising living costs. She emphasized that the Ministry of Commerce, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, is ensuring adequate fuel stocks and stable energy prices to support the economy and consumers.
The list of 59 monitored items includes key food staples like rice, cooking oil, eggs, and pork, as well as consumer products and certain services. Authorities have been instructed to inspect markets and production sites to curb profiteering and hoarding.
This monitoring is part of the government's broader strategy to manage inflation. Suphajee assured that measures are in place to address supply chain issues and that the situation is under control, calling for public cooperation and avoiding unnecessary stockpiling.
