Two residents of Dubai were arrested after privately sharing a photograph of damage caused by a suspected drone strike, according to the advocacy group Detained in Dubai. The incident reportedly occurred in the Al Warqa area in early March 2026.
The group states that the individuals, a British man and a Dutch woman, were inside their home when the projectile struck. After taking a picture of the resulting damage, they sent it to family members via a private messaging application. They were subsequently detained by UAE authorities for allegedly violating cybercrime laws by sharing the image.
Detained in Dubai claims the pair are being treated as suspects rather than victims of the attack. The advocacy organization is calling for their release, arguing they were merely documenting an event that caused damage to their property.
UAE authorities have not publicly commented on these specific arrests. Official statements regarding the early March incident attributed damage in the Al Warqa area to the interception and fall of a "suspected drone," which they stated caused no significant injuries.
