French counter-terrorism police have arrested two brothers on suspicion of plotting a violent, antisemitic attack. The arrests were made on March 15, 2026, in the Paris region, following an investigation by the General Directorate for Internal Security (DGSI).
According to judicial sources cited by French media, the brothers, aged 18 and 20, are suspected of planning an attack targeting Jewish individuals or locations. The investigation reportedly uncovered evidence of their radicalization over the past two years and a recent intensification in their preparations.
Authorities stated that analysis of seized digital devices and statements from relatives pointed to a jihadist motivation behind the alleged plot. The suspects are currently in custody, and the Paris prosecutor's office has opened a terrorism investigation.
The arrests come amid heightened security alerts in France and across Europe. French Interior Minister GΓ©rald Darmanin recently emphasized the continued high level of terrorist threat, particularly from Islamist extremism, and praised the security services for their vigilance.
