Construction has been completed on the Vineyard Wind 1 project, the first utility-scale offshore wind farm in the United States. The project is located off the coast of Massachusetts.
The joint venture between Avangrid and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners announced the installation of the final turbine in late 2025. The project features 62 General Electric Haliade-X turbines.
Vineyard Wind 1 is designed to generate 806 megawatts of electricity, enough to power over 400,000 homes. The project's development began during the Trump administration but faced regulatory delays.
The completion marks a significant step for the U.S. offshore wind industry, which aims to expand along the Atlantic coast. The project is now in the commissioning phase, with full commercial operation expected in 2026.
