World football's governing body, FIFA, has sanctioned the football federations of Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of the Congo following disciplinary incidents during their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier. The match, which ended in a 1-1 draw, was played in Kinshasa on November 17, 2025.

According to FIFA's latest disciplinary overview, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has been fined 5,000 Swiss Francs for the improper conduct of its team and officials. The sanction relates to incidents of team misconduct during the match.

The Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA) received a heavier fine of 15,000 Swiss Francs. Its charges included the improper conduct of its team and officials, as well as the invasion of the field of play by supporters. Both federations were also issued warnings.

The sanctions are part of FIFA's standard disciplinary procedures. The result of the match itself, a 1-1 draw, stands and is unaffected by the fines. Both teams continue their campaigns in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, to be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
