The local chapter of the Mouvement Réformateur (MR) in Colfontaine is calling for stricter enforcement against illegal waste dumping. The party argues that while prevention and awareness are important, they have proven insufficient to stop the recurring problem of non-compliance with municipal waste collection rules.

According to MR councilor Michaël Dermience, the municipality must make greater use of its authority to issue administrative fines. He emphasizes that sanctioning offenders is a necessary step to change behavior and ensure the proper functioning of the local waste management system, which is disrupted by illegal dumping.

The push for enforcement comes amid ongoing community frustration over fly-tipping in the area. The MR's position highlights a broader debate on balancing educational measures with punitive actions to maintain public cleanliness and environmental standards.
