Malaysian men's doubles pair Wan Arif Wan Junaidi and Yap Roy King face a critical challenge at the upcoming Badminton Asia Championships. Their performance will be pivotal in the selection race for Malaysia's team at the Thomas Cup Finals.

The duo, currently ranked lower than compatriots Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin, must produce an extraordinary result at the Asian tournament to strengthen their case. National doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky has confirmed that performances at this event will be a major factor in finalizing the Thomas Cup squad.

The Badminton Asia Championships 2026 are scheduled to take place in Ningbo, China, from April 8-13. The Thomas Cup Finals (the men's world team championship) are set to be held later in the year. The selection committee will use the Asian Championships as a key benchmark before announcing the final team lineup.
