A hotel development project linked to the family of French football legend Zinedine Zidane in the commune of La Primaube, Aveyron, is facing significant local opposition. The project, which involves converting a former holiday camp into a hotel complex, has been the subject of a public inquiry and a petition from residents.

According to local reports, the "Domaine de Fontanges" project, managed by a company owned by Zidane's brother, Farid Zidane, and his wife, Véronique, plans to create a 4-star hotel with 71 rooms, a restaurant, and a wellness area. The site is located near the Toulouse-Rodez airport.

The main concerns raised by the collective "Non au projet Zidane" and other residents include potential noise pollution, increased traffic, and the impact on the local environment and water resources. Critics argue the project contradicts local urban planning documents intended to preserve the area's character.

Proponents, including the mayor of La Primaube, highlight the expected economic benefits and job creation. The public inquiry concluded in early 2026, and a decision from the prefect of Aveyron on whether to grant the necessary construction permit is pending.
