UKTV, the BBC Studios and Discovery joint venture, has announced a change in its leadership. Sam Tewungwa has been promoted to the role of Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
Tewungwa, who was previously the Chief Operating Officer, succeeds Marcus Arthur. Arthur is stepping down after five years as CEO but will remain with the company in an advisory capacity until the end of April 2026 to ensure a smooth transition.
The appointment was confirmed by the UKTV board. Tewungwa has been with UKTV since 2019 and has overseen key areas including marketing, press, and creative. He takes the helm of a portfolio that includes channels such as Dave, Gold, and Drama.
This leadership change comes as UKTV continues to navigate the evolving broadcast and streaming landscape. The company stated that Tewungwa's promotion is aimed at driving the next phase of its growth strategy.
