Two Indian nationals from Kerala were killed in flash floods that struck parts of Oman this week. The victims have been identified as Noushad (40) and Shameer (41), both residents of Malappuram district.

Heavy rainfall caused severe flooding in several areas, including the Ash Sharqiyah North Governorate. The Indian Embassy in Muscat confirmed the deaths and is providing consular assistance to the families.

In response, Kerala's Leader of the Opposition, V.D. Satheesan, has written to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging immediate intervention to ensure the safety of Indian expatriates in Oman and to expedite support for the victims' families.

Omani authorities have issued warnings as the nation experiences unusual rainfall for the season. The incident highlights the vulnerabilities faced by migrant workers during extreme weather events in the Gulf region.
