Two young men, previously convicted for complicity in a murder in Gironde, have appeared free before the Dordogne Assize Court. The case relates to the 2022 murder of a 19-year-old man in Biganos, in the Arcachon Bay area.
The defendants, aged 19 and 20 at the time of the crime, were sentenced in 2023 by the Gironde juvenile court to 18 and 20 years in prison respectively. Their convictions were later overturned on appeal, leading to a new trial ordered to be held in the Dordogne department.
The new trial, which began on March 24, 2026, is being conducted with the defendants not in pre-trial detention. The proceedings are expected to examine the circumstances of the fatal stabbing and the roles of the accused.
The victim's family is present at the hearing in Périgueux, seeking justice for the killing that occurred nearly four years prior. A verdict from the Dordogne Assize Court is pending.
