Spanish National Police have seized five tons of cocaine and arrested eight people in the province of Huelva, Andalusia. The operation, which concluded on March 19, 2026, targeted a criminal organization suspected of smuggling drugs from Morocco into Spain.

Investigators reported that the drugs were transported by sea from Morocco. The cocaine, with an estimated street value of 300 million euros, was discovered hidden in a shipment of fruit juice concentrate at an industrial warehouse in the town of Lepe.

Authorities stated the network used sophisticated methods, including encrypted communication and front companies, to coordinate logistics. The eight individuals arrested are accused of crimes against public health, belonging to a criminal organization, and smuggling.

The operation, named 'Fruta Madura' (Ripe Fruit), involved collaboration with Europol and is considered one of the largest cocaine seizures in Spain in recent years. Police investigations into the network's international connections are ongoing.
