The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially stripped Senegal of its 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title. The decision, announced on March 17, 2026, follows a lengthy investigation into the violent pitch invasion and incidents that marred the final match against Morocco in February 2025.

CAF's disciplinary board found the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) responsible for a severe breach of security and safety regulations. The ruling states the FSF failed to ensure adequate measures to prevent the invasion, which caused significant injuries and property damage, bringing the game into disrepute.

As the runner-up, Morocco has been declared the champion of the 2025 AFCON. The CAF statement confirmed the title transfer and the awarding of the trophy to the Moroccan Royal Football Federation. Senegal also faces a substantial fine and must play its next two CAF competition matches behind closed doors.

The Senegalese federation has expressed profound disappointment with the verdict, calling the sanction disproportionate. It has indicated it will appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The 2025 final, held in Dakar, was abandoned in extra time after fans stormed the pitch with the score level.
