The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has officially launched an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against a decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The FSF's executive committee gave an urgent mandate to its lawyers to file the appeal following a CAF ruling that suspended Senegal from hosting matches.

The CAF decision, announced earlier, came after incidents during a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier between Senegal and the Ivory Coast in Diamniadio on June 6, 2025. The match was halted due to crowd disturbances, leading to the sanctions.

In its appeal, the FSF is seeking the annulment of the CAF verdict, which includes a ban on hosting matches at the Diamniadio Olympic Stadium and a fine. The federation argues the sanctions are disproportionate.

The CAS is expected to review the case on an expedited basis. The outcome could impact Senegal's upcoming fixtures in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
