A second contingent of Kenyan police officers deployed to Haiti as part of the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission returned to Nairobi on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. The officers were welcomed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by senior government officials, including Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, who commended their service.
The MSS mission, authorized by the United Nations Security Council, aims to support the Haitian National Police in restoring security and stability amid severe gang violence. Kenya pledged 1,000 personnel to lead the international force. This returning group is part of that initial deployment.
Officials stated the officers contributed to improving the security situation in their operational areas. The Kenyan government reiterated its commitment to the mission, with further rotations of personnel expected to continue. The return follows the planned rotation of forces, not a withdrawal from the mission.
