The Pakistani government has increased the federal levy on high-octane gasoline, used primarily in luxury vehicles, to 300 Pakistani rupees per litre. This represents a significant hike of 200 rupees from the previous rate. The decision was announced by the Finance Division as part of a regular fortnightly review of petroleum prices.

The adjustment is part of broader economic measures under an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The government stated the move aims to generate revenue and discourage the consumption of high-grade fuel amid economic challenges.

Separately, the prices of other petroleum products, including petrol and high-speed diesel, were also adjusted. The price of petrol was increased by 9.66 rupees per litre, while high-speed diesel saw a minor decrease of 1.77 rupees per litre.

The government's notification did not cite an "ongoing Iran War" as a reason for the price changes. Current reporting indicates no active, large-scale military conflict between Pakistan and Iran that would be described as a war influencing fuel pricing on this date.
