The Moroccan national football team has been crowned champion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), defeating defending champions Senegal 2-0 in the final. The match, held at the Stade de l'Amitié in Cotonou, Benin, saw Morocco secure their third continental title, adding to their victories in 1976 and 2022.

Goals from Achraf Hakimi and Youssef En-Nesyri sealed the victory for the Atlas Lions. The win marks a significant achievement for Morocco, solidifying their status as a football powerhouse in Africa following their historic run to the 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finals.

For Senegal, the loss ends their reign as champions after winning the 2021 edition. The Teranga Lions were unable to break down a disciplined Moroccan defense led by goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, who kept a clean sheet.

The tournament, originally scheduled for June-July 2025 in Guinea, was relocated to Benin due to infrastructure concerns. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed the host change in late 2023 to ensure the event's success.
