A Beaver County man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly leaving a threatening voicemail at a mosque in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The U.S. Department of Justice announced the indictment on March 17, 2026.

The defendant, identified as Brian R. Colarusso, 57, of Aliquippa, is charged with one count of obstructing persons in the free exercise of religious beliefs. The charge stems from an incident alleged to have occurred on October 17, 2025.

According to the indictment, Colarusso left a voicemail at the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh that contained a threat to kill members of the Muslim community. The FBI's Pittsburgh Field Office investigated the case.

If convicted, Colarusso faces a maximum sentence of one year in prison and a $100,000 fine. An indictment is an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
