An 18-year-old Loyola University Chicago student was fatally shot on the evening of March 22, 2026, near the school's Rogers Park campus. Chicago police responded to a shooting in the 1200 block of West Arthur Avenue around 10:30 p.m.

The victim, identified as a first-year student from out of state, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have taken a suspect into custody, but have not released the individual's identity or details regarding their immigration status. Authorities stated the investigation is ongoing.
