Irish folk singer Dolores Keane has died at the age of 72. The internationally-acclaimed artist passed away peacefully at her home in Caherlistrane, County Galway, on Monday, March 16, 2026.
Keane was a founding member of the influential Irish folk group De Dannan, which she helped form in 1974. She performed with the group on their early albums, including the 1975 self-titled debut, before embarking on a successful solo career.
Renowned for her distinctive voice, Keane recorded several solo albums and was a celebrated interpreter of traditional Irish song. Her 1998 album 'Night Owl' is among her most notable works. She was also part of the group The Reel Union and collaborated with numerous other artists throughout her career.
Funeral arrangements have been announced. A service will be held at St. Joseph's Church in Caherlistrane on Friday, March 20, 2026, followed by burial in the local cemetery. She is survived by her family and remembered by fans worldwide for her contribution to Irish music.
