The Guinean Football Federation (FGF) has issued a formal denial following rumors that it had filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to contest the result of the 1976 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final. In an official statement, the FGF clarified that it has not initiated any legal proceedings regarding the match, which saw Morocco defeat Guinea 1-1 (4-2 on penalties) to win its first continental title.

Speculation had circulated on social media and some news platforms suggesting Guinea was seeking to overturn the historic result nearly five decades later. The federation stated these claims are "completely unfounded" and do not reflect its position. It confirmed Morocco's victory and championship status for the 1976 tournament.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport, based in Lausanne, Switzerland, is the highest authority for resolving international sports disputes. Established in 1984, it could not have been involved in a case from 1976, as it did not exist at the time. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has not issued any statement regarding a formal challenge to the 1976 final result.

This clarification ends speculation about a potential legal challenge to one of African football's oldest major finals. Morocco's 1976 AFCON win remains a key milestone in the nation's football history.
