Senegalese midfielder Idrissa Gueye has stated he is prepared to return his Africa Cup of Nations winner's medals to Morocco in an effort to calm diplomatic tensions. The statement follows Morocco's official claim to the 2025 AFCON title after Senegal's victory on the pitch was overturned due to a player eligibility dispute.

In an interview with H24info, Gueye expressed his willingness to make the symbolic gesture "to ease tensions" between the two nations. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) stripped Senegal of the title in late 2025 after a successful appeal by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation regarding an ineligible player.

The controversy has strained relations between Senegal and Morocco, both football powerhouses on the continent. Gueye's offer is a personal initiative aimed at fostering reconciliation, though it does not change the official sporting outcome determined by CAF's disciplinary bodies.
