Grand Island man charged after allegedly kicking officer

A Grand Island man is facing multiple charges following an altercation with police at a local bar. According to the Grand Island Police Department, officers were called to a bar on North Locust Street on the evening of March 19, 2026, regarding an intoxicated individual who was asked to leave.

Police say 28-year-old Jose L. Garcia became combative when officers attempted to escort him out. During the struggle, Garcia allegedly kicked one of the officers multiple times. The officer was not seriously injured.

Garcia was arrested and booked into the Hall County Jail. He is charged with third-degree assault on an officer, resisting arrest, and trespassing. He is scheduled to appear in Hall County Court.

The Grand Island Police Department confirmed the incident and the charges in a statement. No further details about the circumstances inside the bar were immediately released.
