Three flight attendants were taken to hospital after a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles encountered severe turbulence while descending into Sydney on Friday, March 18, 2026. The incident occurred on Delta Flight 41, an Airbus A350-900 aircraft, as it was approaching Sydney Airport.

Emergency services, including NSW Ambulance paramedics, met the aircraft upon its arrival at approximately 6:45 a.m. local time. The three injured cabin crew members were assessed and transported to a hospital for further evaluation. There were no reports of injuries among the 180 passengers on board.

A Delta Air Lines spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating the flight crew followed all safety protocols. The airline is providing support to the affected employees. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) was notified of the occurrence.

Severe clear-air turbulence, which can occur unexpectedly with little to no warning, is a known hazard in aviation. The event highlights the risks flight crews can face even during routine flight phases like descent.
