The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has exported its first cargoes of gasoline, a significant step for the massive new facility in Nigeria. According to reports from Reuters and S&P Global Commodity Insights, the refinery has shipped several cargoes to neighboring West African countries including Ghana, Togo, and Senegal in recent weeks.

The 650,000 barrel-per-day refinery, owned by Africa's richest man Aliko Dangote, began producing gasoline in March 2026 after earlier starting output of diesel and aviation fuel. The commencement of gasoline production is a key development for a plant designed to reduce Nigeria's dependence on fuel imports.

While exact volumes of the initial gasoline exports were not officially confirmed by the company, industry analysts and shipping data indicated the movements. The refinery's operations are being closely watched for their potential to reshape energy flows in West Africa.
