Kevin Yu, the head coach of the senior boys basketball team at College Heights Secondary School in Prince George, has been named the 2025 BC School Sports (BCSS) Boys Basketball Coach of the Year. The award recognizes outstanding coaching contributions at the high school level across British Columbia.

According to BCSS, Yu was honored for his leadership during the 2024-2025 season. Under his guidance, the College Heights Cougars achieved significant success, including a strong performance at the provincial championships.

"Coach Yu's dedication to his players, both on and off the court, exemplifies the values of school sports," a BCSS spokesperson stated in the official announcement. The award was presented earlier this month as part of BCSS's annual recognition program.

This marks the first time a coach from College Heights Secondary has received this provincial coaching award in basketball. The school community has celebrated the achievement, highlighting Yu's positive impact on student-athlete development.
