The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has annulled the decision to award a 3-0 forfeit victory to Togo against Senegal in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier. The match, originally scheduled for November 2025, was postponed after the Senegalese team's flight was delayed, preventing their arrival in Lomé in time.
FIFA's disciplinary committee initially ruled the match a forfeit in favor of Togo. The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) appealed this decision to CAS, arguing the travel disruption was beyond their control. In its ruling, CAS found the forfeit sanction to be disproportionate, ordering the match to be rescheduled.
The decision is a significant relief for Senegal's World Cup qualifying campaign. The annulment returns the Group B standings to their prior state pending the replay of the match. A new date for the fixture must now be agreed upon by the two federations and FIFA.
