Car fire at Hougang HDB block injures seven, including children

Seven people, including three children, were hospitalized after a car caught fire at a Hougang HDB block driveway on Monday night.

Seven individuals, including three children, were taken to hospitals after a car caught fire at the driveway of a Housing and Development Board (HDB) block in Hougang on Monday night (March 23). The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed it was alerted to the incident at Block 322 Hougang Avenue 5 at about 8:05 p.m.

The SCDF reported that the fire involved the engine compartment of a car. Firefighters extinguished the blaze using one water jet. Seven people were assessed by SCDF paramedics; three were taken to KK Women's and Children's Hospital, and four were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Preliminary investigations by the Singapore Police Force indicate no foul play is suspected. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The incident caused a significant response from emergency services in the residential neighborhood.
