The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has issued a statement categorically denying false reports circulating online that Morocco was awarded the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title. The viral claim suggested CAF had overturned Senegal's victory in the final on a technicality, which the governing body labeled as completely fabricated.

The 2025 AFCON tournament has not yet been played. It is scheduled to be hosted by Morocco in the summer of 2025. The qualification process is currently ongoing, with the final draw for the tournament yet to be held.

CAF emphasized that all official communications regarding its competitions are released through its verified channels and urged the public to disregard the misinformation. The false story appears to have originated from satirical or fake news websites and spread across social media platforms.
