The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeal Board has dismissed a protest filed by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) regarding the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The decision, announced on March 18, 2026, definitively confirms Senegal as the tournament champion.
The FRMF had lodged an appeal seeking to have the final result annulled and the title awarded to Morocco, citing incidents during the match held in Rabat. The Appeal Board reviewed the case and found no grounds to overturn the original result.
In its official statement, CAF emphasized that the sporting result of the final stands. The governing body also noted that disciplinary proceedings related to the organization of the match are being handled separately by the CAF Disciplinary Board.
The ruling brings closure to the controversy, upholding Senegal's victory in a tightly contested final. The focus now shifts to future tournaments and CAF's ongoing efforts to ensure the smooth organization of its flagship event.
