NASA astronaut and physician Jonny Kim, a former Navy SEAL and Harvard Medical School graduate, will be the featured speaker for Harvard University's Alumni Day on June 5, 2026. The event celebrates the achievements and contributions of Harvard alumni worldwide.
Kim, who earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 2016, was selected as a NASA astronaut candidate in 2017. He completed his astronaut training in 2020 and is currently eligible for future spaceflight assignments. His military service includes over 100 combat missions as a Navy SEAL, for which he received a Silver Star and a Bronze Star with Combat "V".
"Jonny Kim has devoted his life to serving others," said Harvard President Alan M. Garber. "His extraordinary journey from the battlefields to medical school to NASA embodies the spirit of service and exploration that we cherish at Harvard."
Alumni Day is an annual tradition featuring lectures, symposia, and awards. Kim's address is expected to focus on leadership, resilience, and public service.
