The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has formally proposed signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ghana's Ministry of Health. The proposal aims to institutionalize early consultations between the health sector regulator and local manufacturers, particularly regarding policies that affect the pharmaceutical and medical devices industries.

This initiative seeks to foster collaboration to ensure that regulatory frameworks support local production and enhance the availability of essential health commodities. The AGI has emphasized the need for consistent dialogue to address challenges faced by domestic manufacturers, including market access and regulatory harmonization.

The proposal aligns with broader national efforts, such as the government's 'Ghana Beyond Aid' agenda and the National Pharmaceutical Industry Plan, which aim to boost local drug manufacturing and reduce import dependency. The Ministry of Health has acknowledged receipt of the proposal, indicating that such partnerships are crucial for strengthening the health supply chain and achieving universal health coverage.
