House Assistant Majority Leader and Lanao del Sur 1st district Representative Zia Alonto Adiong has publicly thanked President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. for his actions in maintaining the momentum of the Marawi rehabilitation efforts. Adiong made the statement on behalf of the people of Marawi and Lanao del Sur province.

The city of Marawi was devastated in 2017 after a five-month-long siege by ISIS-affiliated militants, which displaced hundreds of thousands of residents. The government's rehabilitation program, Task Force Bangon Marawi, has faced criticism for years over perceived delays in rebuilding and returning residents to their homes.

Recent reports from the Philippine News Agency and other outlets in early 2026 indicate that President Marcos has directed relevant agencies to expedite the completion of key infrastructure projects. These include permanent shelters, road networks, and public buildings in the city's most affected area.

While progress continues, full rehabilitation remains an ongoing challenge. As of late 2025, officials reported that over 70% of displaced families had returned to Marawi, but many are still awaiting permanent housing solutions and the completion of vital civic structures.
