A group of youths, under the aegis of the Coalition for Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday converged on the Abuja residence of the former president in a solidarity rally. They chanted songs and slogans asking Jonathan to run for president again in 2027.
The rally, which took place on May 7, 2026, saw participants carrying placards with messages such as 'Jonathan, come and rescue Nigeria' and 'We need your experience.' The coalition's leader, speaking to reporters, said the group believes Jonathan's leadership is needed to address the country's challenges.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan, who served from 2010 to 2015, has not publicly commented on the rally. He previously stated he would not seek the presidency again, but speculation about a potential run has persisted.
